Born in 1992 in Geneva, Kim Crofts completed a master's degree in stage directing at La Manufacture in 2023. For her graduation performance, she directed Bakkhaï, a feminist adaptation of Euripides' The Bacchae. She began her studies in 2013 in Montreal at the École Supérieure de Théâtre UQÀM. She spent seven years in Quebec, during which she worked on integrating opera into urban spaces, directing experimental lyrical forms in bookstores, cafés, and various local festivals. Back in Switzerland, she assisted Krystian Lupa, Maya Bösch, and Stefan Kaegi (Rimini Protokoll). In 2023, she was selected by Guy Cassiers and Opéralab’s committee to direct a contemporary opera, which will be performed at the Comédie de Genève in 2025.
