    Béatrice Nani

A Franco-Italian mezzo-soprano born in Milan, Béatrice Nani is developing her career as an opera singer while writing her own shows to bring opera closer to all audiences.

After a Master's degree in Political Science in Paris, Béatrice joined the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne in Brigitte Balleys' class in 2014 and obtained her Master's degree in singing in 2019, before continuing to work with Jeanne-Michele Charbonnet. As an actress, she trained with Gaëlle Bourgeois and Fiona Chauvin in Paris, and received invaluable advice from Thierry Pillon, Jean-Yves Ruf and Shin Iglesias. She has won several international competitions, including the Enesco and Leopold Bellan competitions in Paris, the Béziers international singing competition and the Opus Lirica competition in San Sebastian.

In 2016, she made her debut in Geneva, creating the role of Ella Maillart in Guy-François Leuenberger's Le Ruisseau noir at the Théâtre du Grütli. She then played Lois in Cole Porter's Kiss me Kate at the Théâtre du Galpon. She has also appeared in Bottesini's Requiem at Geneva's Victoria Hall. In 2017, she made her debut at the Opéra de Lausanne and went on to take on a series of leading roles in operettas and comic operas. She made her debut with Cricri in Le Chanteur de Mexico, followed by Armelinde in Pauline Viardot's Cendrillon in 2018, Duchess Totoche in Hervé's Les Chevaliers de la Table Ronde, and Odette in Christiné's Dédé in 2021.

In 2022, she made her French debut as the mother in Guy-François Leuenberger's contemporary children's opera Le Petit Chaperon Rouge at l'Opéra de tours. The same year, she sang the title role in Bizet's Carmen on tour in Switzerland, and Paquette in Bernstein's Candide. In the 2023-2024 season, she was Venus in Offenbach's Orphée aux enfers, the Third Lady in Mozart's The Magic Flute, Mercedes in Bizet's Carmen, and appeared in concert with the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne conducted by Marc Leroy-Calatayud.

In 2024, Béatrice created the Compagnie Gelsomina to carry out inclusive projects aimed at promoting opera in unusual places and to as wide an audience as possible. For the 2024/2025 season, her roles include Dido in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas and Rita Florida in Lopez's La Route Fleurie, and she is touring Switzerland with her show La Cantatrice Empruntée.
