Laurent Berger

Director, playwright, teacher-researcher and translator, Laurent Berger is currently a lecturer at the Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier III, where he created the Master Création Spectacle Vivant. He also directs the international research project on the actor in Europe and the Americas "Being and Acting" conducted at La Manufacture.
He was Head of the Master in Theatre at La Manufacture, and artistic advisor and director of the hTh Lab at the Centre Dramatique National de Montpellier under the direction of Rodrigo Garcia. He has also translated William Shakespeare, Jean Genet and Jean-Luc Lagarce into Spanish.
His scientific research focuses on contemporary creation, directing theory and Shakespearean theatre. He recently edited a volume on Argentine theatre for Alternatives Théâtrales and co-edited the volume Shakespeare Material for the TC-TNA, Buenos Aires.
As a director his latest creations are Je crois en un seul dieu, by Stefano Massini at the CDN of Montpellier, 3 8 S M (Shakespeare Material) at the National Cervantes Theatre of Buenos-Aires as part of the International Festival of Buenos-Aires, Urashima, at the Theatre of Fukuoka, Japan, D. Quixote at the National Theatre of Chaillot and Mesure pour mesure, based on Shakespeare at the El Galpón Theatre of Montevideo.
